LCC Art Gallery presents book arts lecture
EUGENE - The Lane Community College Art Gallery presents, RoadTrip: An Oregon/Minnesota Artists' Book Exchange Lecture, on Thursday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In the gallery, Building 11, main campus in Eugene.
Artist Jeff Rathermel’s lecture will be part of an artist show exchange sponsored by MCBA in Minneapolis and Lane’s gallery. Rathermel will discuss the traditions of bookmaking and the development of book arts. He will also address nontraditional forms that have appeared on the art scene as well as discussing his own work within this medium.
Rathermel, artistic director for Minnesota Center for Book Arts, has an master of arts in public affairs from the Humphrey Institute and an master of fine arts in printmaking, papermaking, and artists' books from the University of Minnesota. He administers the Jerome Foundation Book Arts Fellowship program and has curated numerous exhibitions. As an artist, he has shown work internationally. Rathermel is also a member of the University of Minnesota art faculty and a visiting assistant professor at Carleton College.
