Reading Together presents Native American panelists
EUGENE - The Reading Together project at Lane Community College will host a presentation, “Living Traditions: Native American Culture, Education and Revitalization in Oregon,” on Monday April 9, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, Room 104, main campus in Eugene. The event is free and open to the public.
A panel of Native American community members will talk about traditional cultures, values and education. They are regional Indian Education Director Lynn Anderson-Ojibwa, based in Florence; Allison Davis-WhiteEyes, Indian Education Office at Oregon State University; David Lewis, Manager of Cultural Resources at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde; Tom Ball-Modoc/Klamath, Assistant Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity at the University of Oregon; and Native American Student Program Coordinator James Florendo, Wasco, at Lane Community College.
The panelists will discuss the work they do, as well as explore larger questions involving the nature of cultural revitalization and recovery.
