Free Dental Sealant Day for Lane County children
EUGENE - Lane Community College dental programs and local dental assisting, dental hygiene and Lane County dental associations are co-sponsoring the annual Free Sealant Day for Lane County children on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in the college’s Dental Clinic, Building 4, Room 108, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. Building 4 is between the tennis courts and the flag pole, and Room 108 is on the lower level.
All uninsured children ages 6 to 17 are eligible for dental exams, x-rays, sealants, and fluoride varnishing during the Free Sealant Day. In the past, the event has served as many as 90 children. Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be willing to receive care on a first-come, first-served basis. All children who arrive prior to 12:30 p.m. will receive a dental exam.
The event is an educational opportunity for dental assisting and dental hygiene students, giving them an opportunity to work with children who are in need of preventive services. Local dental suppliers provide sealant material and disposable supplies. Free Sealant Day also presents an opportunity for clinicians and students to give back to the community needed services for uninsured children.
