Print arts exhibit opens January 8 at LCC gallery
EUGENE- The Lane Community College Art Gallery presents an exhibit, Print Arts Northwest, from January 8 to February 1, 2007 in the gallery, Building 11, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. A lecture with printmaker and book artist Susan Lowdermilk will be held in the gallery on Thursday, January 18, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This exhibition comprises a selection of contemporary prints from Print Arts Northwest members from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. A variety of printmaking techniques are featured including etching, relief, monotype lithography, and silkscreen. The works range in approach from traditional to experimental, showcasing a variety of subject matter and conceptual ideas.
Print Arts Northwest is the gallery and an educational program of the nonprofit Northwest Print Council. Founded in 1981, NWPC/PAN is a regional resource for printmakers, students, print collectors and art patrons dedicated to preserving the tradition of printmaking. Its mission is to support contemporary fine art printmaking by promoting the practice, appreciation and collection of original prints through exhibitions and educational programs. PAN is the headquarters of NWPC and is located in Portland's Pearl District.
Susan Lowdermilk is a printmaker and book artist. She teaches printmaking and graphic design at Lane. She actively exhibits her work both regionally and nationally, and her work is included in many permanent collections across the United States.
Lane Community College Art Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. For more information call (541) 463-5409.
