Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Consortium (RV Consortium) is hosting an "RV Road Trip"
EUGENE - The Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Consortium (RV Consortium) is hosting an "RV Road Trip" for teachers and career counselors from high schools throughout Lane County.
DATE: Wednesday, October 4, 2006
TIME: 8:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Lane Education Service District, 1200 Highway 99N, Eugene
High school teachers and career counselors will be greeted by representatives of Country Coach, Marathon Coach, and Monaco Coach to embark upon a progressive tour of the RV Manufacturing facilities in Coburg and Junction City. The RV companies will feature career paths, manufacturing technologies and the finished product as they transport the educational staff by Motorcoach from one manufacturing facility to another.
Instructors at each company will tour coach production facilities and gain first hand knowledge of modern manufacturing processes. In addition to making connections with industry personnel, the teachers and counselors will get comprehensive views of career opportunities and benefits available to their students. Career examples in RV manufacturing include welding, coach painting, electronics, cabinetry, engineering, general assembly, manufacturing engineering, interior design, accounting, and information technology. By viewing the career paths and working environments of modern RV manufacturing, teachers and counselors will be able to convey career information and real world-of-work descriptions directly to students.
A new DVD featuring RV manufacturing careers will be provided to the participants with copies available for students. Additionally, they will see a demonstration of a recently completed state-of-the-art interactive computer-based learning module tailored to cabinetry and saw machinery. The RV Consortium is donating this learning tool to schools for students to access.
The RV Consortium is comprised of Country Coach, Marathon Coach, Monaco Coach, the Lane Workforce Partnership, and Lane Community College. The Lane Education Service District has partnered with the RV Consortium to sponsor this learning opportunity. The RV Road Trip is an effort to further the industry and schools partnership, strengthen connections between industry personnel and educators, and support ongoing learning opportunities for area teachers, career counselors and their students.
