Vincent Tinto presentation will focus on student success
EUGENE - Dr. Vincent Tinto will give a free presentation on “Student Success: A Shared Agenda for Secondary and Post-secondary Educators,” on Monday, September 18, from 5-6:30 p.m., in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, Room 104, at Lane Community College main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue.
Members of the Oregon University System, regional community colleges, high school principals, counselors, and regional superintendents have been invited. The presentation is open to the general public.
Dr. Tinto will share information about current national movements that provide secondary and post-secondary educators with guides for how they can better promote the success of their students and align actions between and within the secondary and post-secondary sectors.
Dr. Tinto received his doctorate in education and sociology from the University of Chicago, after earning his undergraduate degree at Fordham, the Jesuit University of New York. He is currently Distinguished University Professor at Syracuse University and Chair of the Higher Education Program. He has carried out research and written extensively on higher education, focusing particularly on the social dimensions of learning.
