LCC chef instructors offer summer cooking classes for high school
students
EUGENE - High school students from 16 to 19 years old are invited to enroll in any or all four summer academies being offered by the culinary arts faculty of Lane Community College.
Cook up a storm and take a family dinner home every night in "Cooking with Clive." Chef instructor Clive Wanstall will lead these two, four-day classes. Students will learn basic cooking techniques, taste foods from all over the world, and prepare meals to share with their families. The first session runs from Monday, June 19 through Thursday June 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second session runs from Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Has baking always been an area of interest? This summer, chef instructor Chris Crosthwaite offers "Baking Basics with Chef Chris." He will take high school students on a tour through the bake shop in a hands-on fashion, exploring baking techniques, baking breads, and creating scrumptious desserts. The first session begins Monday, July 10 and goes through Thursday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second class starts up Monday, July 17 and goes through Thursday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cost for one class is $295. Each class after that is $273. Class size is limited to the first 26 high school students. For general information on culinary summer academies, go online to 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu and click on "Summer Academies," then click on "Culinary." For assistance with
