EUGENE, OR - The Lane Community College Business Development Center and Employee Training announced the winners of its annual Business of the Year awards at its open house on May 18.
Presentation Design Group was named 2006 Small Business of the Year. PDG principals Tommy Griffin and Michael Whitenack turned art degrees into a multimillion dollar business, designing, fabricating, and installing displays for the healthcare industry, museums, and other organizations, and they are enthusiastic supporters of the BizCenter Small Business Management and The Business Group(tm) programs that helped them along with way. Find more information at www.pdgdesign.net or call Michael Whitenack at 344-0857.
Mama Rose's Naturals was named 2006 Microenterprise of the Year. Founder Rosetta Thuresson turned a personal crisis into a business opportunity when she started creating herbal remedies to treat her young daughter's illness. Two years later, her herbal product business targeted toward babies and their moms is thriving, thanks in part to the Lane MicroBusiness Project Grow program and an assortment of BizCenter workshops and advising sessions. Visit www.mamarosesnaturals.com for more information or call Rosetta Thuresson at 998-5782.
The Lane County RV Consortium was named 2006 Training Partner of the Year by the BizCenter's Employee Training arm, the first-ever such award. The consortium is a collaboration of local RV manufacturing giants Monaco Coach, Marathon Coach, and Country Coach, with support from the Lane Workforce Partnership and Lane Community College, designed to create a regional RV manufacturing and training program. The individual companies have been receiving customized employee training from the BizCenter for years, and the center is expected to continue to work with the consortium in designing its training program. Call Dave Oatman, RV Manufacturing Workforce & Training Consortium Coordinator at 517-5501 for more information.
The BizCenter gives out awards each year to businesses that exemplify the successful business models that the BizCenter promotes for its clients. Past winners include Springfield Creamery, Pacific Yurts, and Molecular Probes.
The Lane Business Development Center is located at 1445 Willamette St., Suite 1, in Eugene. Jim Lindly is the center director.
