Studio assistants show features clay and sculptural art work
EUGENE - The Art Department Gallery at Lane Community College presents "Material Realizations" featuring clay and sculptural artwork by LCC studio assistants Tim Ditter and Kit Winter Kerkvliet, April 3 through 20 in the gallery, Building 11, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. An artist lecture will be held in the gallery on Thursday, April 6, at 4:30 p.m. followed by a reception.
Tim Ditter describes his work as the crossroads where his various interests in philosophical Taoism and traditional Chinese medicine can meet his background in carpentry as well as his fascination with architectural design. Ditter loves the immediacy of clay and the limitless directions from which it can be pursued.
Kit Winter Kerkvliet works in multimedia sculpture. His work is an exploration of material technique and concept. Kerkvliet says the properties of substance resonate with his voice as he creates. Ideas and composition are at the core of each of his pieces. This varied showing of work reflects Kerkvliet's diverse ventures since coming to sculpture as a form of expression.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 463-5409.
