LCC students offer Bounty of the Mediterranean dinner
EUGENE - Culinary arts and hospitality management students at Lane Community College present their winter term classical cuisine dinner, Bounty of the Mediterranean, Thursday, March 2, seating at 5:30 p.m. and serving at 6 p.m., in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene. The students have chosen the cuisines of the Mediterranean including Turkey, Italy, Israel, Palestine, and Morocco.
Dinner begins with an appetizer of dates with chorizo, beef kabobs koutbane, and lamb kibbeh. Moroccan carrot soup precedes the entrée of skate wing ragout and squid ink pasta. A dessert of cheese-filled kodafa finishes the eclectic menu.
The evening's entertainment is as exotic and varied as the menu: Turkish belly dancers and a classical Spanish guitar performance highlight the evening.
Second-year hospitality management student Duane Fotta is the public relations director for the event. "The students have collected a number of delicious and interesting dishes for the dinner. We're very excited about working with the culinary students and promise an evening full of culinary surprises," he says.
Tickets are $35 each and can be ordered from the Culinary and Hospitality office at 463-3503 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Leave a message and your call will be returned. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Seating is limited.
