Soasey mixed media exhibit opens at LCC

The Art Department Gallery at Lane Community College presents an exhibit by Beverly Soasey from February 1 through 21, in the gallery, Building 11, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. Soasey will lecture on Thursday, February 9 at 3 p.m., followed by a reception.
Soasey describes her art as falling in the category of mixed media/assemblage, which means anything goes. Her assemblage requires having inspiration and ideas around all of the time, always invading her thoughts. These thoughts and ideas come together in a single statement, such as her obsession for collecting, traveling and exploring; her art becomes a part of that process. For Soasey there are no boundaries, no formal rules on execution of materials. Soasey says she does whatever it takes to express an idea, evoke a mood or convey a concept. Her work is a study of textures, patterns and color, a combination of elements that intrigue and surprise the viewer. Her process begins with the search and ends in a story.
