Business Department open house will feature programs and careers, remodeled facilities, and introduce faculty
EUGENE - The Business Department at Lane Community College will hold an open house on Monday, January 30 from 2-6 p.m., first floor of Building 2, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue.
The open house will showcase remodeled offices and provide students and the public an opportunity to meet faculty and learn about business programs and career opportunities.
The department offers short-term training in legal office skills, office software specialists, and retail management; a business assistant certificate; degree programs include accounting, administrative assistant, and legal; and an associate of science Oregon transfer degree/business. New courses this year cover introduction to spreadsheets and databases, socially responsible entities, and internet marketing.
Lane offers significant tuition savings compared to the university level. Smaller class sizes--a maximum of 35 students in business courses--ensure personalized attention. Training prepares students for in-demand jobs. Service, office and administrative support, and professional and related occupational categories will account for almost half of all new jobs until 2012, according to the Oregon Employment Department.
