Internationally known feminist author to speak at LCC
EUGENE - The diversity coordinator at Lane Community College presents author Elana Dykewomon on Thursday, January 26, from 12-1 p.m. in Building 1, Room 206, main campus in Eugene at 4000 E. 30th Avenue.
Dykewomon is the author of works such as the historical novel “Beyond the Pale,” winner of Lambda's Literary Association Award, Best Lesbian Novel, Best Lesbian Fiction and the Publishers Triangle Award. “Riverfinger Women” was voted by The Advocate as one of the top 100 queer books of all time. Her short story collections include “Moon Creek Road,” and her poetry books include “They Will Know Me By My Teeth.” She also has published numerous essays, most recently "Lesbian Quarters: On Building Space, Identity, Institutional Memory and Resources." Dykewomon was editor of the lesbian feminist journal Sinister Wisdom for eight years and is currently on the board of The Journal of Lesbian Studies.
Since 1971, Dykewomon has offered readings and presentations throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe including at the National Women's Studies Conference and the International Feminist Bookfair.
Dykewomon lives in the Bay Area and is a lecturer in creative writing and English composition at San Francisco State University. She has taught creative writing at Los Medanos Community College and the Harvey Milk Institute. She is currently in residency at the Oregon Soapstone Writer's Retreat.
