Lane hosts College Day in Music for five state colleges and universities

The Lane Community College music program hosts College Day from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 14 in the Performing Arts (Bldg. 6) on the LCC Main Campus at 4000 East 30th Avenue in Eugene. The public is invited to meet college reps and sit in on music classes during the day. Representatives from Marylhurst , Eastern Oregon and Western Oregon Universities, The University of Oregon and Northwest Christian College will be at the Performing Arts Building to share their programs with Lane students and other interested community members.

The day concludes with an evening concert in the Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Guest artists include pianists Diane Baxter and Jackie Morell, and vocalists Kevin Helppie and Amy Chisholm from Western Oregon University; Matt Cooper, piano and Leandro Espinosa, cello from Eastern Oregon University; Charles Turley, voice, from the University of Oregon. Pianists Barbara Myrick, Larry Clabby and Jim Greenwood from LCC will also perform in the evening concert.

Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students & seniors and may be purchased at the door. For additional information, call the Lane Ticket office at 463-5202. Proceeds help fund individual lessons scholarships for music students at Lane. To help ensure that the audience, as well as the performers experience LCC productions free of distraction or annoyance, we ask that patrons leave cameras, recorders, cell phones, beepers and children under age six (including infants) at home.

The Concert Program includes the following pieces:

  2. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (2 pianos, 4 hands) by J.S. Bach Diane Baxter & Jackie Morelli, Western Oregon University
  3. Songs sung by Kevin Helppie and Amy Chisholm from Western Oregon University
  4. Sonata in E Minor Johannes Brahms
    Matt Cooper, piano, Leandro Espinosa, cello, Eastern Oregon University
  5. Art Songs sung by Charles Turley from the University of Oregon
  6. Scaramouche (3 pianos, 6 hands) by Darius Milhaud
    Barbara Myrick, Larry Clabby and Jim Greenwood, pianos from Lane Community College
  7. Hungarian Dance #2 by Franz Liszt
    Barbara Myrick & Jim Greenwood, piano, Lane Community College
  8. 5 Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms
