Patrick Lanning named Associate Vice President for Instruction at Lane

EUGENE, OR - Patrick Lanning has been named Associate Vice President for Instruction at Lane Community College. He was selected from six finalists following a nationwide recruitment.
Lanning will oversee several departments and divisions including: Arts; Language, Literature and Communication; Health, Physical Education and Athletics; Mathematics; Science; Social Science; Advanced Technology; Business; Computer Information Technology; and Family and Health Careers.
Lanning has served as interim AVPI since September 2004. He joined Lane in 1992, teaching health and physical education. From 1992-95, he helped establish the Fitness Education Center and fitness training certificate and degree programs. He chaired Health, Physical Education and Athletics from 1995-04; Music, Dance and Theatre Arts from 2002-04; and Art and Applied Design from 2003-04.
Outside the college, Lanning serves on boards of the Eugene Water and Electric Board and the Lane Council of Governments. He is a past accreditation evaluator for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
Lanning is a candidate for an education doctorate at the community college leadership doctorate program at Oregon State University. He earned a master of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Oregon in 1992, where he also earned a bachelor of science in psychology in 1989. He was a student at Lane Community College from 1984-86.
