Lane scholars Tony McCown and Layla Ulam honored
EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College students Tony McCown of Springfield and Layla Ulam of Eugene were honored at the Oregon Community College Association Student Scholar ceremony and luncheon on April 29. They were among 37 scholars from Oregon's community colleges honored by legislative officials and college presidents in this annual Community College Month event. Faculty and administrators chose the students based on academic standing and college experience.
McCown is a second-year pre-planning, public policy and management major at Lane and is student body president. He plans to transfer to the University of Oregon and pursue a law degree. Ulam also is a second-year student with plans to transfer to the UO. She will pursue a degree in journalism and women's studies.
