Workshop for parents and teachers of high school students with disabilities
EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College is offering a special evening workshop for the parents and teachers of students with disabilities in conjunction with a daylong training on the same topic. The evening workshop will be held Wednesday, April 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Building 17, Room 308, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. The agenda will focus on tips and resources for parents and teachers that will help students with disabilities transition to college. In addition to discussions about college options and strategies, there will be a presentation about assistive technology accommodations. No registration is required.
The workshop precedes the Fourth Annual Transition Academy to be held April 14 at Lane and co-sponsored by the college, the University of Oregon, and Lane ESD. This event is for high school students with disabilities and their parents and educators to learn more about college in general, and Lane in particular, as an option after high school. About 240 participants are signed up, including 200 high school juniors and seniors with disabilities.
