EUGENE, OR - Clive Wanstall, popular chef instructor in the culinary arts program at Lane Community College, has achieved Certified Executive Chef recognition from the American Culinary Federation. He is the second chef at Lane to receive CEC certification, following Food Services Coordinator Greg Winslow, who was certified last spring.
"It is a privilege to be an educator in a field that I have such a passion for," said Wanstall. Conference and Culinary Services Department Director Peg Allison added that, "This dovetails beautifully with the new ACF accreditation of our culinary arts program. I think it shows the commitment of our faculty to provide the highest quality education to our students."
The ACF certification notice states, "By documenting a well recognized and accepted set of professional standards, you have demonstrated your knowledge and experience in the culinary arts and you are certainly to be commended."
Wanstall has taught culinary arts at Lane since 1999. He teaches preparation of various international cuisines including classical French, Italian, Middle Eastern, and Cantonese cuisine. He is known for a lighthearted, humorous style.
Before Lane, Wanstall managed Eugene's Ambrosia Restaurant from 1987-2000. Throughout his career he has worked as general manager, chef de cuisine, executive chef, catering chef, executive sous chef, chef poissioner, and chef saucier.
Wanstall graduated from the Thanet Technical College's Professional Cookery Program in Kent, England, in 1972.###
