Job fair and career conference will connect employers with job seekers
EUGENE, OR - In step with the growing economy, Lane Community College will present a Career Conference and Job Fair on Wednesday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue in Eugene. Lane President Mary Spilde will open the event and Register-Guard columnist Bob Welch will deliver the keynote address.
The free event is an expansion of the popular job fair that Lane has hosted for the last 14 years. A variety of workshops are offered on writing resumes, interviewing, dressing for success, selling skills you have--and don't have--and more. There will be opportunities for networking with prospective employers and prize give-aways every hour.
More than 60 employers are expected to participate. Among these are Bi-Mart, KMTR-TV, Jerry's Home Improvement Center, Market of Choice, McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center, Myrmo and Sons, Old Dominion CARSTAR, Pope and Talbot, Starbucks Coffee, and many others.
The goal is to bring together employers and job seekers from the community and college, says co-organizer Joan Bedard-Ross, event coordinator from the college's Workforce Development department. "As Lane County continues to climb out of the recession, it is imperative that we have innovative events like this that support the increased job market and stimulate the enthusiasm of job seekers."
