FICTION AND SONG AT LCC WILL LOOK AT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN AND MEXICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE
EUGENE - A reading and talk by David Bradley will be held Tuesday, February 17, from 1-3 p.m. Bradley is author of "The Chaneysville Incident," a novel that explores the African American experience of racism. He directs the creative writing program at the University of Oregon.
Jim Garcia will perform Corridos from the Chicano movement, Thursday, February 26, from 10-11:30 a.m. Corridos is an oral history through songs to honor those who have struggled in behalf of the community, and to highlight significant events and issues impacting the Mexican American people. Garcia is the diversity coordinator at Lane.
Both events will be held in the in the Lane Community College Art Gallery, Building 11, main campus in Eugene, and are sponsored by the Reading Together project, a year-long series of activities to examine racism and related issues.
