Shew to perform at LCC Sixth Annual Jazz Festival
EUGENE - Jazz trumpet legend Bobby Shew comes to Lane Community College
December 4 and 5 for the Sixth Annual Lane Jazz Festival. The festival
includes performances for the public and clinics for area musicians.
Shew will play with the Lane Jazz Ensemble, Swingshift, and the Oregon
Jazz Ensemble, in the festival’s popular big band concert, Thursday,
December 4. He also will perform with festival artists Randy Porter on
piano, Mike Denny on guitar, Dave Captein on bass, and Gary Hobbs on drums,
Friday, December 5. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Lane Performance
Hall, main campus.
The clinics are designed for local and regional high school bands, middle
school bands, college bands, educators and artists. "The festival
focus
es on bringing together our community of jazz students, professionals,
educators and enthusiasts of all levels for one event to share their art
and love of this music," says Ron Bertucci, festival coordinator
and director of the jazz program at Lane.
Tickets are available at the Cat's Meow, Pacific Winds Music, and the
Lane Ticket Office. Prices for the December 4 concert are $8 adults, $5
seniors/students. Prices for the December 5 concert are $12 adults, $9
