Students receive $5,000 Staton scholarships at LCC
EUGENE - For the third year since the Robert W. and Bernice Ingalls Staton
Foundation donated $2 million to Lane Community College to help students
of need and merit, 24 students have been awarded $5,000 scholarships for
2003/04.

From Eugene: Linda Bern, Dental Hygiene; Andrew Dicus,
EMT/Paramedic; Beverly Einstein, Nursing; Sharol Foumal, Community Service;
Jeremiah Haynes, General Studies; Kristi Hottenstein, Elementary Education;
Trisha Jensen, Nursing; Darrell Judd, Auto Body; Nolan Kell, Flight Technology;
Devi Mears, Pre Medicine; Jeanette Park, Applied Mathematics; Tanya Paynter,
Flight Technology; Patience Pontious, Multimedia Design; Russell Quinby,

Staton's gift was one of the two largest ever given to Lane. Bernice Staton couldn't afford to complete her own college education. After she and her husband built a successful business, Staton decided to "to help students who absolutely could not go to school without aid." Her gift funds professional-technical and transfer scholarships each year at Lane.
