Commuting tips from LCC
EUGENE - Lane Community College has a few traffic tips for students headed
to main campus when fall term classes begin Monday, September 29.
Take the bus. A free LTD/LCC bus pass is available this year for main campus credit students, funded by a student transportation fee. Students will need to bring any kind of current photo ID and their ExpressLane student schedule to a bus pass photo session to get a free bus pass. Information is available online at www.ltd.org/site_files/riding_ltd/fastpass.htm. The photo ID sessions will be held in the PE building lobby on September 24 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and September 25 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; and in the Performing Arts building lobby on September 26 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., September 29 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., September 30 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., and October 1 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
All other students may purchase a LTD/LCC Fast Pass for $54 at Lane’s main campus and downtown center bookstores.
If you must
drive, arrive early. Traffic usually starts backing up sometime around
8 a.m. The northeast lots fill up last. Park where directed by public
safety officers. Don’t park on the shoulder of Gonyea Road off 30th
Avenue or you will risk being ticketed by the Lane County Sheriff’s
Office. Be aware that a contra-flow lane in the outward-bound lanes of
Gonyea Road will be established to allow LTD buses to drive past the congestion
in their own lane.
Traffic congestion lasts the first few days of fall term until students
know their way around and have finalized their schedules.
