Rites of Passage closing ceremony open to public
EUGENE - The closing ceremony for the five-week Rites of Passage Summer
Academy will be held Friday, August 8, from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Center
for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, Room 104, Lane Community College
main campus in Eugene. The public is invited. Admission is free.
Performances by 80 middle-school and high-school students of color are
the focus of the evening. Since July 7, the students have been participating
in four cultural immersion programs with education specific to African
American, Asian/Asian American, Native American, and Latino/Latina heritage.
The program was founded in 1996 and has received national acclaim.
