LCC adopts budget
EUGENE - The 2003/04 budget was adopted by the Lane Community College
Board of Education at its June 11 meeting by 6-0 vote. The $68,944,572
general fund is about 1 percent smaller than last year’s.
A shortfall forecast at the beginning of the year was addressed primarily
through revenue increases including a tuition increase from $49 to $63
per credit hour, a transportation fee of $15 per quarter for credit students
and $5 for noncredit students, differential pricing fees based on contact
hours students spend in the classroom or lab in selected professional-technical
programs and physical education courses; and a summer term tuition surcharge
of $6 per credit hour.
No programs were eliminated. Funding was reduced for respiratory care, the Business Development Center, Adult Basic and Secondary Education, and intercollegiate athletics. Credit jewelry classes were discontinued. Some service hours were reduced. No contracted employees were laid off.
