Dental hygiene students still the best
EUGENE - Upholding a long tradition at Lane Community College, 17 second-year
dental hygiene students achieved a 100 percent pass rate on their Western
Region Anesthesia Board exam on April 12 at Lane. The exam included a
written exam and a clinical demonstration of proficiency. "The faculty
is very proud of this outstanding group of students," says instructor
Jane Batterson.
The students have one more clinical board exam to complete in order to
become licensed dental hygienists. This board will be held in June in
Portland. Students are avidly seeking patients with fairly heavy calculus
(tartar) deposits to take to this board. Lane's dental hygiene clinic
offers free screening exams.
The students are: Yvette Olson of Brookings; Anne Veeman of Brownsville; Linda Bailey of Cottage Grove; Cheri Alley, Jennifer Eastburn, Pamela Miller, Rachel Stifle and Rebecca Martin, all of Eugene; Elaine Baker of Harrisburg; Missy Carnes and Andrea Fletcher of Medford; Sarah Main of North Bend; Susan Heubner of Reedsport; Lori Koozer and Michele Messere of Springfield; Kari Vaale of Sutherlin; and Teri Coddington of Bakersfield, Calif.
