LCC board openings attract 14 candidates
EUGENE - Fourteen citizens filed for five Lane Community College Board
of Education openings in the May 20 election. Voters throughout the district
vote on all positions, even though candidates filing for a zone position
must live within that zone.
Running for Zone 1, the western college district including the Bethel
area of Eugene, Veneta, Dunes City, Florence, and Monroe, for a two-year
unexpired term, are Rich Cunningham of Eugene, and Paul Holman and Rob
Spooner of Florence. Holman is the incumbent. He was appointed in December
2002.
Running for Zone 2, the northern college district including North Eugene, Coburg, Harrisburg, and Junction City, for a four-year term, are Jay Bozievich and Nadia Sindi, both of Eugene. Incumbent Robert Ackerman did not file for re-election.
Running unopposed for Zone 5, entirely within Eugene and generally south of the Willamette River and east of City View Street, for a four-year term, is incumbent Larry Romine of Eugene. He was appointed in September 2002 and also served on the board from 1997-2001 in the Zone 1 seat when he lived in Veneta.
Running for At-Large Position 6 for a four-year term are Roger Hall of Eugene, Susie Johnston of Pleasant Hill, Sandie Losee-Hitchcock of Leaburg, Marston Morgan of Cottage Grove, and Jerry Sirois of Springfield. Hall is the incumbent and was elected in 1991.
