Integrative Practicum Program - Scheduling Guidelines
- Students set up their schedule based on your work schedule, their class schedule and personal life. Please have your schedule available when you meet with them in the orientation session.
- The student is expected to complete a total of 24 shifts.
- The student can start no earlier than the evening of Monday, March 28th, 2011.
- Encourage the student to do 3-4 day blocks when available; discourage isolated shifts.
- Weekends: Students are told they should follow your weekend schedule. Students have been told that their employment schedules are to be adapted to meet this scheduling requirement. If they have scheduling difficulties, they are to discuss this with the faculty.
- If you will not be present on a scheduled day (“low census” or ill), please notify the student not to come in. It is the student’s responsibility to reschedule another day.
- Students cannot do any shifts with staff members that are not identified as CTA nurses. This helps to improve the continuity of the student’s experience.
- If the student is ill, s/he is to phone the unit before the shift and reschedule.
- If you float to another area - the student goes with you.
- It is the student’s responsibility to notify their instructor of subsequent schedule changes.
