Dental Assisting
The Lane Dental Assisting Program prepares its graduates for employment in the dental setting, with emphasis on current concepts of clinical chair side assisting. After successful completion of the three quarter program students are eligible to take the National Board exam and receive all required state certificates.
A dental assistant may serve as a clinical chair side assistant, secretary-bookkeeper, office manager, or laboratory technician.
About 90 percent of the graduates find employment in the Eugene/Springfield area. The remaining 10 percent are able to find employment in other parts of the state. Starting salary in the Eugene/Springfield area averages $13.50 per hour.
