Health Matters - Smoking Cessation

Are you tired of tobacco dependency?  Do you want to quit? Do you know what happens after you quit?  Need some help quitting?  Do you know that your own Lane Community College Health Clinic can help?

We will treat you as the individual that you are, with unique needs to conquer your addiction to tobacco and nicotine.  We can offer proven interventions and resources to help, including medications if needed or desired.

Every year in the U.S. over 438,000 people die from tobacco-caused disease, making it the leading cause of preventable death.  Tragically, each day more than 1,000 kids become regular, daily smokers and one in two will eventually die as a result of their addiction.

What can be done to halt this public health epidemic?  The American Lung Association is working at the federal, state and local level to pass laws and implement policies that will lessen the burden of tobacco on our families, communities and nation.  We also are committed to helping smokers quit:  The American Lung Association’s Lung Help Line and our Freedom from Smoking program stand ready to help smokers quit.
