Barbara Breaden Researching elements of cognitive psychology through papers acquired from the International Listening Association convention.  Review a cognitive psych text and interview a professor to locate key concepts relevant to the cognitive and neurological components of the listening process.  Locate journal articles from the past ten years that address issues such as the nature of memory, aids to memory, the elements of sensing, the process of human hearing, psychological obstacles to message processing, and so on. Suzanne Canale Gather data to identify errors that are most commonly made by nurses in acute care and community settings and those errors made by other health care personnel (e.g., physician, respiratory therapist, pharmacist, technician, nursing assistant) that a nurse may have been able to prevent.  Resources will include internet sites, journals, media, risk management committees, nursing facukty and staff, the Oregon State Board of Nursing and the ONA. John del Nero Work in public safety as a trainer, advisor, and investigator in another international, multicultural setting.  I have been asked by the Office of the Attorney General, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan, Tinian, and Rota) to assist the Chief Investigator with cross-cultural differences in law enforcement methodology.  I
  will assist with the ongoing investigations of numerous unsolved murders, and with the local police academy.

Kathleen Hopkinson Enroll in two non-resident classes at the University of Washington School of Dentistry through their Dental Education Programs: Child Mistreatment: Implications for the Dental Team and Oral Self Care: Strategies for Preventive Dentistry. Enroll in at least one and possibly both educational courses at U of W Dental School: Treating Fearful Patients and/or Dental Care of the Disabled. Sp
Norman Johnson Visit universities in Japan in Kyoto, Kawasaki, Otaru, Kusatsu, Tokyo and secondary schools in Tokyo, Kakegawa, and Kamakura.  Study Japanese at the Tokyo Academy of Communication and study "Studying Oneself Learning a New Language" developed by U. of Alabama TESL MA Program.  Read TESL texts by Johnson, Nunan, Alderson, Carter, Parrott, Lindsay, and Pennington. Daniel Kimball Evaluate curriculum at junior colleges and universities with similar auto collision and paint programs with a high percentage of enrollment of Hispanic & Latino students.  Tour automobile assembly plants top gain better knowledge of the auto manufacturers assembly and paint procedures in the Southwestern United states and Mexico.  Research the different methods of technical/professional instruction available for teaching diverse populations. David Rothgery Getting Caught Up: Immerse myself in some of the "new" writers and new directions in American Literature.  Explore the directions American Lit has taken in the last 15-20 years.  Review a sampling of critical essays in journals such as American Literature, Poets and Writers, African-American Review, ATQ, Legacy, Studies in American Fiction. Visit with professors at two or three northwest universities. Read from a list of writers that best represent the "psyche" of contemporary American Lit and plug the gaps in my knowledge of the American literary scene. W
Susan Ulrich Take at least two courses in Power Point, Digital Photography, Web Design.  Take an online course in WebCT format.  Visit 3-4 nursing schools on the West Coast and spend time with faculty.  Attend a 3-day Critical Care Conference in Las Vegas in April and the Oregon Conference of Associate Degree Nursing Programs Conference in May. Bruce Wild Continue the research conducted earlier on Celadon glazes of the Northern and Southertn Song Dynasties  using only native Oregon materials.  A focus on brown and black glazes of the Song Dynasty.  Replicate using native Oregon materials the famous, extremely rare Chinese brown and black glazes called Temoku, Hare's Fur, Tortoise Shell, and Partridge Feathers.
