Thanks to the dental community’s generous support, the Jan Malone Dental Assisting Scholarship awards $500 scholarships to deserving students to help cover the cost of their certification exams. Nearly 90% of Lane Community College’s Dental Program graduates remain and work in Lane County.
In 2004, Fred & Susan Platt established the Jan Malone Endowment to ensure that these scholarships would be available in perpetuity. Currently the endowment is sufficient to award one $500 scholarship each year. Additional awards come from generous gifts from members of the LCDS, many of whom give annually. Our goal is to raise an additional $22,000 for the endowment to ensure that the fund will support at least four $500 scholarship awards each year.
Thanks to all of those who have supported the scholarship and the endowment over the last 6 years. You have changed lives with your gifts.
