Our Student Nurses Association at Lane Community College has been offered the opportunity to travel to an impoverished area of Thailand on a medical mission to provide healthcare to those who need it most. 
We will be hosted by a small NGO dually based in London and Bangkok called Starfish Volunteers during winter break of 2011. We will spend 11 days traveling around the area, working each day in either a rural clinic or patients’ homes, and will spend one day hosting our own clinic in which families will come from surrounding villages to receive much needed vaccines, check-ups, and other medications.
Not only is this an amazing opportunity to assist vulnerable and needy children and families to get the health-care they would otherwise not have available, but it is also a chance for great personal growth and a way to bring esteem to our nursing program.
