1999 NASC Accreditation Standards and Policies

-Standard One- Institutional Mission and Goals, Planning and Effectiveness

Lane’s mission and goals define who we are, the educational programs we offer, and the services we provide our students. The Self-study evaluates the extent to which Lane’s mission and goals are achieved and are consistent with the eligibility requirements and standards established by our accrediting body, the Commission on Colleges and Universities of the Northwest Association of Schools  and Colleges.

Note:      Standard Two pages are organized according to the structure of the review teams. Standards 2 D, E and F are omitted, as they are related to graduate education and are not appropriate for the community college self-study. 

Lane offers college-level programs that culminate in identified student competencies and lead to degrees or certificates in recognized fields of study. The Self-study will evaluate how well Lane continually redefines, assesses, and improves these elements of the educational environment for high quality educational programs. 

-Standard Three – Students

Consistent with our educational philosophy, student programs and services support the achievement of Lane’s mission and goals by contributing to the educational development of our students. The Self-study will evaluate how well Lane provides essential support services for students, regardless of where or how enrolled, and by whatever means educational programs are offered.

Standard Five T - Information Technology

The primary purpose for the library and information resources is to support teaching and learning in ways that are consistent with, and supportive of Lane’s mission and goals. The Self-study will evaluate how well library and information resources and services support the intellectual, cultural, and technical development of students enrolled in courses and programs wherever located and however delivered.

The Self-study will evaluate Lane’s system of governance and how well it facilitates the successful accomplishment of our mission and goals.

The Self-study will evaluate Lane’s financial planning and budgeting process to ensure they are ongoing, realistic, and based upon Lane’s mission and goals.

The Self-study will evaluate Lane’s physical resources, particularly institutional facilities, to determine if they are sufficiently designed, maintained, and managed (at both on- and off-campus sites) to achieve Lane’s mission and goals.

-Standard Nine – Institutional Integrity

The Self-study will evaluate Lane’s adherence to the highest ethical standards in its representation to its students and the public; in its teaching, scholarship, and service; in its treatment of its students, faculty, and staff; and in its relationship with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
