Meeting Minutes
2002.12.12

Attendees: Stephen Pruch,  Joe Escobar, Linda DeWitt, and Linda Grenz.

Absent: Linda Loft, Cynthia Dietz, Joe Russin, Kaaren Orourke, Bob Vogel.

Recorder: Joe Escobar

1.   Previous meeting's minutes reviewed and approved.

2.   Todays agenda: 2nd Year Technology Fee Management Planning discussion.

     A.  It was decided to have a single major grant due date for next year.  The date chosen was March 7, 2003 in order to coincide more closely with the college annual budget planning cycle and to allow time for TACT to meet, decide, and make award announcements by May 1, enough time for awardees to plan for upcoming academic year.

      B. There was a discussion to have new/innovative/emergency/contingency requests be an ongoing process throughout the year, as needs arise, without set deadlines.  It was also suggested that the AVP for IT be given authority to approve such requests without burdening the entire TACT committee with evaluating and approving these smaller, fewer, emergency, and/or timely innovative requests.

3.   Review of the past year.

     A. TACT members will develop an official technology request form.  This form will be made available online, along with information on the request process, including samples of "likely to be approved" and "likely not to be approved" requests.

List of improvements included submissions by TACT members

  • Requests will be made by department manager
  • Multiple requests from one department will be prioritized
  • Include new Banner ORGN and PROG codes on request
  • Format will clarified, including a clearly defined total dollar amount
  • Category inclusion - maintain technology, increased student access, new technology
  • Informational contact included on form
  • Minimum - maximum dollar amount - can the request be partially approved
  • Collaboration, efficiency, economy will also be captured on this form

A public information session will be held at TACT's January 23, 2003 meeting.  All interested college staff are invited to attend.

TACT will meet on January 9, 3-5pm, Science 211
