Meeting Minutes
2/13/03

PRESENT: Linda DeWitt, Cindy Dietz, Linda Grenz, Joe Escobar, Linda Loft, Kaaren O'Rourke, Steve Pruch, Joe Russin, Bob Vogel

FACILITATOR: Stephen Pruch

RECORDER: Linda Loft

  • Open Lab usage

  • Kaaren O'Rourke raised the issue of student complaints over waiting for computers in the open labs, notably Hea201.  Bob Vogel said his staff is reporting no waiting, or a maximum of 10-15 minute wait at peak times.  Discussion ensued about the number of open labs on campus and the increased usage since the Tech Fee started.  Bob Vogel replied that more labs would be coming online with the completion of the Center 4th Floor next Fall.  Bob was asked to give an overview of all campus labs at our next meeting.

More discussion concerning the cost of lab consumables followed. Steve Pruch reported that in a statewide IT directors meeting, most other schools were charging for printing separately from a Tech fee.

  • Criteria for Ranking Proposals

  • Steve suggested that we develop a ranking format that would be the basis for this term's applications as well as next year's annual applications.  After developing the criteria, the weight and scoring for each was determined.

It was decided that if #1 was 0, the other scores would be left blank. Criteria #5,6,7 would be mutually exclusive.  Joe E. will change the online form to have three radio buttons instead of the current Maintain, or New.

Other criteria discussed but not part of the spreadsheet at this point were: a) partial funding, b) previous tech funding, c) unit priorities, e) size of units, and f) unit dependence on technology.  It was suggested that previous tech funding be ranked in 'other resources'.  Joe R. suggested that after ranking this term's applications, we revisit the scoring used before starting next year's applications.

    NEXT MEETING:  February 27, 2003, 3:00 - 5:00 in Room 211, Building 16.

TO - DOs:  1) Bob V. - Report on computing labs

Recorder rotation:  DeWitt, Vogel, Rusin, Dietz, Escobar, O'Rourke, Grenz, Loft
