Mainstreamed Projects
- Reading Together
The Reading Together project intentionally designs a structure which enables connections between all groups in the college community. The selection of two books per year to read as a campus project builds an inclusive, culturally enriching, community building project, which would give community college students experiences and opportunities not usually afforded to students who attend commuter-based, community colleges. Our chosen books reflect our college core values; these values are central to social justice, to our health as individuals and as members of diverse educational and social communities. For more information, contact Reading Together coordinator, Ellen Cantor x3660.
- Learning Communities
The aim of this project is to support the creation of new learning communities and create the infrastructure for all learning communities at Lane, so that Lane reaches and sustains learning communities on a large scale. For more information, contact the Learning Communities Coordinator, Anne McGrail at x3657.
- Service Learning
This project supports the creation and implementation of service learning, where community service is integrated into the curriculum. For more information, contact the Service Learning Coordinator, Jennifer von Ammon, x3658.
- Faculty Connections
This project creates a structure to integrate and support new faculty. The structure of support continues through the 3-year probation of new contracted faculty, and on a term-by-term basis for new part-time faculty. For more information, contact the project coordinator Beth Naylor, x5533.
- Great Teaching Seminars
This project aims to establish a regular practice of Great Teaching Seminars (GST) among faculty, and integrate the Seminars into the educational offerings at Lane so that faculty from other institutions may join with Lane faculty. The well-tested and successful GST format, where up to 30 faculty meet for 2-3 days to discuss crucial teaching and learning issues, provides infrastructure support for innovation at Lane and a college-supported practice of scholarship about teaching and learning. For more information, contact the Great Teaching Seminars Coordinator, Adrienne Mews, x5871.
- The American Indian Languages Program
The project goal is to facilitate the establishment of a credit program of American Indian language instruction at Lane, the first for a community college in Oregon, with a larger goal of creating a two-year degree program in American Indian Studies. For more information, contact Jerry Hall, x5084.
- 3 to 4 Credit Conversion
This project aims to establish a structure and support for moving substantial numbers of courses (In English, Social Science, and Arts mainly) from 3 to 4 credits to articulate with the UO, to create opportunities for modifying the course learning environment, and to create better alignment with the general education core requirements. For more information, contact Lee Inomen, x5412 or Dennis Gilbert, x5049.
