Aluminum

  Cans, Foil, Food Containers
What do I do? Empty
Where do they go? Place in designated Green Barrels marked "Cans and Bottles"

Batteries (more on batteries)

  Alkaline (non-rechargeable flashlight-type batteries - AAA, AA, C, D) Lead-Acid (Car Batteries), Lithium, Mercury, Ni-Cad, NiMH
What do I do? Discard in trash.  No recycling option. Separate according to type in plastic bags & collect in central location
Where do they go? Discard in trash.  No recycling option Submit ICO to FM&P for removal or deliver to FM&P department office Room 204, Bldg. 7.

Cardboard

  Corrugated "Thin"(cereal box type)
What do I do? Flatten Flatten
Where do they go? Place in brown wooden collection boxes or place behind paper barrels Place in designated Blue Barrels marked "Other Paper"

Electronics

All Electronics
Where does it go? Submit ICO to FM&P for removal.  Electronics are donated for reuse or are recycled. All Electronics must be recycled through FM&P, particularly monitors and televisions. These items contain lead and are a hazardous waste. The college could receive large fines for disposing of these items in a dumpster.

Glass

Metal Scrap

Where do they go? Place in the metal recycling drop box to the east of Building 9.  No refridgerators.  Motors must be removed.

Paper

What do I do? Recycle as is (staples & paper clips okay) Avoid use of neon and bright colors as these are difficult to recycle Leave in plastic bag Call Recycling Services for pick-up and shredding at ext. 5714

Plastic

What do I do? Empty, remove and discard cap Tubs & Jars labeled #1-5 & 7 are recyclable (#6 is not recyclable).  Rinse and remove lid. Recycling barrels for plastic film/bags are located outside of the Bookstore
Where do they go? Place in designated Green Barrels marked "Cans and Bottles" Place in designated Green barrels marked "Glass, Cans, and Plastic" Place in blue "plastic bag" collection container outside of the Bookstore, or reuse, or recycle at local grocery store

Printer Cartridges

What do I do? Return to manufacturer--they will recycle Refill cartridge through local vendor
Where do they go? Read manufacturer's instructions for return address/procedures Look in the Yellow Pages under "Computers--Supplies and Parts"

Styrofoam

  Packing peanuts Block sytrofoam
What do I do? Place in bag or box--clean peanuts only! Currently no recycling option at Lane
Where do they go? Place next to any Blue or Green recycling barrel or Brown recycling box Dispose in Trash

Surplus Office Supplies

What do I do? Make sure items are in good, usable condition.
Where do they go? Place in the Reusable Office Supply Exchange in Room 120A in the Cafeteria.  For large amounts, submit ICO to FMP for pick-up and delivery.

Surplus Property

What do I do? Submit an ICO to FM&P to have the items picked up.
Where do they go? Items are donated, sold, or recycled according to the College Procedure on Equipment Disposal

Tin Cans

Cans
What do I do? Rinse, remove label, remove top and bottom with a can opener (if possible), and flatten (if possible).
Where does it go? Place in green recycling barrel marked "Cans and Bottles"

Wood Scrap

What do I do? Call FM&P @ ext. 5455 for removal or place in wood recycling drop box in the northeast parking lot
