  Rid Yourself of Junk Mail

If you would like to reduce the amount of unwanted mail that lands on your desk at work or at home, provide the following company with your complete name (include variations) and address and request that they delete your name from all lists.

Mail Preference Service
Direct Marketing Association
PO Box 9008
Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008

In addition, changes to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act which took effect 9/30/97 make it easier for consumers to remove themselves from lists used by credit card companies and some direct marketers to solicit them by mail. You need only call one of the three major national credit bureaus to get off all such lists. The special opt-out numbers are:

Experian (formerly TRW), Equifax, Trans Union: 1-800-353-0809 or 1-888-567-8688

Just call the toll-free number that these bureaus has established to have your name removed from the lists.
