LCC Employees:

UPDATE ON COLLEGE EQUIPMENT

PERSONAL USE OF COLLEGE EQUIPMENT
The Personal Use policy at http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/cops/equipuse.htm compliments and reinforces the Appropriate Use Policy by reiterating that "College equipment shall be used only for college business." If you are using a college cell phone, be sure to read this policy. Our policy is more restrictive than most staff expect due to the limitations of Oregon laws and the "Advisory Opinion" cited in the policy. This policy has a helpful Q&A section at the end which uses examples to demonstrate how the policy works.

USING COLLEGE OWNED COMPUTERS
This is a reminder that the college has an Appropriate Use Policy for computers and network resources. The policy says that "Computing and networking resources are provided for the educational, academic, and administrative purposes of the college." It goes on to describe both appropriate and inappropriate uses. Please be familiar with the policy which you can find at http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/cops/compusef.htm
The policy applies to both staff and students, and covers all college owned computing equipment. That includes office workstations, computer labs and classrooms, network services, library systems, Banner, ExpressLane and e-mail. These systems are provided to do the business of the college.

Examples of inappropriate behaviors include: running a personal business with college equipment; overloading the network with inappropriate traffic; storing personal digital pictures on college servers; downloading inappropriate materials to an office workstation; committing financial fraud; or accessing someone else's account. It's not possible to give an exhaustive list. Just remember that computing resources are provided to do the business of the college and use must be consistent with our mission and respect the rights of other users.
