Why are Financial Aid students being asked to update addresses!

Beginning fall term 2008, Lane Community College, in partnership with Higher One, Inc., began instituting a new process by which financial aid recipients will receive their financial aid refunds from Lane.  Students have been requesting the option of Direct Deposit to their checking/savings accounts, and Higher One is able to offer that, as well as the option of using a debit card from Higher One if you do not already have your own account. You will need to log into www.laneccdebitcard.com using a card mailed to you in order to choose your refund preference.  This is the only way to select any of the three options.

Lane needs a valid address in order to send your card so you may choose your refund preference

Step-by-step instructions to update your address

What does this mean to you?

Students will now have 3 choices in how they receive their financial aid refunds.

Option #1: Debit card for a OneAccount through Higher One  (Within 1 business day after Higher One receives payment information from Lane)
Option #2: Direct Deposit (ACH transfer) to 3rd party bank account    (Within 1-3 business days after Higher One receives payment information from Lane)
Option #3: Paper check mailed to you   (Mailed within 2-5 business days, delivered by the US Postal Service to the address you have on file with Higher One)

How does it work?

You will receive a MasterCard branded debit card in the mail. Follow the instructions and go to www.laneccdebitcard.com and sign in using the numbers on your card.  Logging in this way does NOT activate your card.  You have a choice! Once there, you will be prompted to choose one of the methods listed above as your preferred way to receive your financial aid refunds. Your financial aid refund will be disbursed to pay off your college account viewable on myLane.  Higher One will then receive the refund amount and process it according to your selection. You may change your refund preference at any time.

Student Notifications

Lane Community College is mailing to those students that have been selected to receive the new Lane CC Debit Card. When you receive this letter, please login in to your myLane account and verify your PERMANENT mailing address. (step-by-step instructions) This is very important because if we mail your new Lane CC Debit Card to the wrong address, you could experience a delay in receiving your financial aid refund.

Lane Community College is committed to serving students and insuring the fastest delivery of financial aid refunds. Please verify and update your address if necessary as soon as possible by logging into myLane or by contacting Enrollment Services on the main campus in Building 1 or by calling (541) 463-3100.
