The new Downtown Campus Building will advance the overall mission of Lane Community College, which is to be a learning-centered community college that provides affordable, accessible, high-quality, lifelong educational opportunities. The new facility will serve nearly three times the number of students served at the current downtown site.
Timeline
Construction of the new facility will begin in March 2011. The Lane Community College Board of Education selected a fast-track construction timeline. Completion of both the academic and housing projects is scheduled for Fall 2012.
Construction Management
At its January 2011 meeting the Lane Board of Education approved a financing plan to and awarded a contract to the firm of Lease Crutcher Lewis (LCL) to provide Construction Management/General Construction services. LCL provided CM/GC services for the recently completed Health and Wellness Center.
Feasibility Study
The college retained Gerding Edlen Development to manage a feasibility report for the project. A collaboration of Robertson/Sherwood/Architects and SRG Partnership, Inc was selected to provide architectural planning services. The study was completed through a series of multi-day interactive planning sessions, conducted over a 90-day period. The process involved college administration, staff, instructors, students, and City of Eugene staff. A copy of the feasibility report is available at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/facilities.
