Campus Resources/Academic
Every student has the opportunity to consult with a program advisor or counselor. Once you determine your academic interest or program of study (i.e., engineering, culinary, dental hygiene, criminal justice) you’ll be meeting with your program advisor or counselor to help you make progress towards your specific goals.
Take a look at the list of advisors and counselors.
If you have not chosen a subject/program of interest you can always consult with a general counselor located at the Counseling Department on the first floor in building #1 (main campus).
Academic Advisors commonly assist students with the following areas:
- Course scheduling
- Transfer information
- Identifying degree requirements
- Goal setting
- Other critical needs related to academic success.
Counselors assist with the needs mentioned above, however they can also help students experiencing problems that prevent them from being successful in school. Such issues may include:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Relationship concerns
- Depression
- Career indecision
Whether you meet with an advisor or counselor the services are at no extra cost and the information you share will be held strictly confidential. Rarely will there be an exception. Speak to your advisor or counselor for those exceptions.
