Employer Information
Since 1970 over 7,500 local employers have benefited from hiring students through Lane's Cooperative Education program. These students have come from a wide range of professional technical and liberal arts programs that have prepared them for work experiences in businesses and community organizations like yours. As an employer, you have access to both part-time and full-time students who can fill positions related to their academic area of study or career path.
This integration of classroom and community is the essence of co-op, a structured program that enhances student learning while providing skilled individuals to business, industry, government, and non-profit organizations.
Cooperative Education offers:
- An excellent source of motivated and qualified personnel
- An effective way to balance work schedules of part-time and job-share employees
- An opportunity to be involved in the educational process that contributes to both your profession and the community
There are over 30 Cooperative Education faculty who specialize in different academic/program areas. You will work directly with the faculty coordinator responsible for the type of student you'd like to have as an intern in your business or organization. That Coordinator will take time to understand your needs and then send you qualified individuals. Once a student begins, the Cooperative Education coordinator maintains contact with you and the student, visits informally, and determines the student's grade at the end of the term.
The Cooperative Education program is a proven educational partnership between Lane and local businesses and community organizations. Well over two thirds of co-op employers continue to utilize co-op students term after term.
