Programs
The CIT deparment offers several programs including Computer Network Operations, Computer Programming, Computer Simulation/Game Development, Computer Specialist, Computer Information Systems: Health Informatics. Computer Network Operations * – The Computer Network Operations two year degree trains entry-level network support technicians and more advanced network administrators in specific computer networking skills and general troubleshooting of hardware and software related problems. The graduate will: administer an organization's computer network infrastructure including servers, workstations, printers, and routers and other internetworking devices. Monitor network performance, troubleshoot network problems. Understand fundamental networking theory, terminology, and industry recognized standards. We also offer a Computer Network Security Career Pathway Certificate for people with networking skills who want to learn how to better secure workstations, servers, and other networking devices.
Computer Programming * – The Computer Programming two year degree prepares technicians for entry-level positions as web developers. We also offer a Web Programming Career Pathway Certificate for students with previous computer experience that prepares technicians for entry-level positions as web programmers and a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Career Pathway Certificate that provides a foundation in geospatial concepts while developing workforce skills. The GIS Certificate focuses on collaborative projects using real-world data to solve problems makes the GIS course sequence relevant and dynamic.
Computer Simulation/Game Development * – The Computer Simulation/Game Development two year degree prepares students for entry level positions in the simulation and game development industries or to transfer to a four-year school for additional education. It provides students with the knowledge and skills required to program in C++, specifically focused on simulation and game programming. We also offer a Computer Game Programming in C++ Career Pathway Certificate which provides students with the knowledge and skills required to program in C++, specifically focused on simulation and game programming.
Computer Specialist * – The Computer Specialist one year degree is composed of the CIT core classes which compose the first year of the Computer Network Operations, Computer Programming and Computer Simulation/Game Development two year degrees. It prepares specialists in the use of computer information systems. Specialists use a computer's capabilities as a problem-solving tool for positions that require end-user knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating procedures.
Computer Information Systems: Health Informatics * – The Computer Information Systems: Health Informatics two year degree educates individuals to be effective developers, users and managers of health information resources Health Informatics is the study of how health data are collected, stored and communicated; how those data are processed into health information suitable for administrative and clinical decision making; and how computer technology, communications technology, and other information management skills can be applied to support these processes. Graduates may be employed as health information professionals by clinics and offices of health care providers, hospitals, health maintenance organizations, insurance companies, government agencies, law firms, mental health programs, community health programs, researchers, consulting firms, and information systems vendors. We also offer a six month program * for students with experience in computer programming who want to gain the skills to go into the Health Informatics field.
