WORKFORCE TRAINING
January 28, 2002 Update
FOCUS ON WTC CAUSES DELAY ON ELEVATOR.
Work on the freestanding elevator adjacent to Buildings 1, 2, and 3 has occurred in spurts and starts. This is not atypical when a contractor has several projects underway on a site, especially when one of the projects is considerably larger. Since Chambers' focus has always leaned toward the WTC facility rather than the elevator, bond personnel must regularly motivate the contractor to expedite completion of the elevator and thereby allow students to more easily access various parts of the campus. The metal cover and gutters are now on the elevator's upper roof and the entire walkway from the elevator to Parnell Loop is scheduled to be poured this week. The elevator project should reach completion during February. Turning to the WTC, installation of interior doors and lights is complete in CIT's portion of the facility. The large training rooms in the conference center are painted. Installation of drywall began last week in the T&D addition and continue in the remainder of the facility.
Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee.
