WORKFORCE TRAINING
May 15, 2000 Update
Workforce Training:
For some time, the tentative construction schedule has listed the Workforce Training Center as going out to bid in early June, with work slated to begin in early August. However, due to an unforeseen health issue with one of the architects, as well as necessary changes to the kitchen design, the WFTC project will be delayed slightly.
The updated construction schedule indicates that the project will go out for bid in September, with work commencing in November. Because of the delay, the WFTC project will now be divided into two parts, as was the case with the Math/Science addition last year.
During the first phase, which begins this summer, site preparation will take place. In doing this, preparation costs can be minimized by avoiding inclement weather conditions during the fall. Information on the site preparation bid will be released shortly.
The second phase of the project will begin when the construction bid goes out this September. Although the unexpected three-month postponement is regrettable, the Bond Management Team believes fewer change orders will be necessary with the WFTC undertaking, which will help keep costs within budget.
Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee.
