March 12, 2007

Dear TRiO Students:

Believe it or not, it is the last week of Winter term! I have to keep looking at the calendar to clarify that it is true. Let's see all of you in here this week finishing up the term.

1. Deadline for Lane Foundation Scholarships is 5:00 p.m. TODAY, Monday, March 12! Remember that you need to make copies for each scholarship (except the All Majors--you just need one copy for that grouping). Good Luck! Let us know when you start hearing about your awards.

2. Study Groups: Sign up now for spring term study groups. Follow instructions at the top of the page, use pencil, and put ALL your available times. If one student signs up, others will, so don't wait for someone else to be first. Ask any tutor if you have questions about study groups.

3. Please observe the TLC closing times. Our tutors have other obligations. Please be sure to wind up or close your work out so you can leave a couple minutes before. The Tutors will give you a five-minute to closing time announcement. Thanks from your tutors.
4. UO Transfer Information

A. The UO offers one-credit classes called Transfer Seminars to help transfer students get their bearings and have a smooth transition. There will be a cross-disciplinary seminar for all transfer students, regardless of major, offering an exposure to different academic departments and the exploration of possible majors and minors. In addition, there will be a seminar for students majoring in middle and secondary teaching; business; journalism; psychology; and sociology.

B. We HIGHLY recommend you take the Transition to the University course offered spring term if you are transferring to the UO during the 2007-08 academic year. Classes meet once a week on the Lane campus and once a week at the UO. Avoid academic culture shock when you transfer, get registered for this 3-credit class! Transition to the University-CG 215, CRN 40610, Tues. Thurs. 1:30-2:50

C. And we also HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you attend the UO New Student Orientation Program on Monday, May 21, 2007 if you will be attending the UO in Fall 07. There are many benefits to attending the orientation including learning more about the UO, meeting with an academic advisor and getting your registration PIN number. However, the BEST benefit is that you will be able to register early! Yes, that’s right, you will be ahead of the game for fall registration. You are eligible to attend if:

· You apply for admissions by March 15
· Are admitted by April 20
· Submit the Intent to Register Form and pay $200 Advance Tuition Deposit by May 15
· Register for May Advising by May 15 online via DuckWeb

For additional information about these UO Transfer opportunities contact: Terrie Minner, Academic Advisor-Counselor, 346-3211 or tminner@uoregon.edu or talk to Aliscia in the TRiO Office.

5. TLC Finals Week hours and tutors: The TLC will be open:

Monday - 8:30 to 4:00 (Nancy all day, Tobi from 9:00 to 1:00)
Tuesday - 8:30 to 4:00 (Nancy all day, Bill from 9:00 to 1:00)
Wednesday - 8:30 to 2:00 (Nancy all day, Amanda from 9:00 to 1:00)
Thursday - 8:30 to 12:00 (Nancy only)
Friday the TLC is closed

6. TRiO Will be closed during Spring Break.

7. Interested in having a competitive edge for employment after graduation? Consider the new geographic information science (GIS) sequence of courses starting in Fall 2007! A new grant will bring GIS learning opportunities to students in science, social science and computer information technology. GIS systems are mapping and analysis tools used in a growing number of workplace settings (urban planning, public utilities, human services, public safety, forestry, geosciences, and bio-resources). For example, when a power outage occurs, a connected network finds and directs a location-specific response. When a police department analyzes crime data, it uses GIS software to map crime areas. Anything that has a location can be mapped, from the migratory patterns of whales to brain activity. If you would like to learn more, contact Aliscia.
Have a great last week of classes! We hope to see you this week!

Warm Regards,
Mary

TRiO E-News March 5, 2007

Dear TRiO Students:

It is the ninth week of the term which requires daily work to be prepared for successfully completing the term. We hope to see you in the TLC multiple times in the next couple of weeks. This is the time of the term that you may feel overwhelmed and like you just can't keep going. Remember, just start each project, paper, study session, etc for just twenty minutes. chances are you will feel more motivated and see that the task is achievable.

E-News for the Week:

1. PROTECT YOUR SPRING TERM ADVANCE REGISTRATION: Check your account in ExpressLane after 5 p.m. on March 5, 2007 (TODAY!) to avoid having your spring advance registration dropped on March 6, 2007, if your balance is not paid in full by midnight, March 5, 2007. Charges can be added as late as 5 p.m. on March 5th and these can include charges such as tuition, fees, locker room charges, bookstore charges, library fines, parking citations and additional charges. It is vital that you check your account after 5 p.m. on March 5th, even if you believe that your account has been paid in full, in case any new charges have come in since you last paid off your account.

If you identify a charge that you believe is in error, it is always safer to use ExpressLane to pay off your account. You can then follow through on a process that refunds this payment to you and your advance registration will have been protected.

2. Tutoring Appointments. Weeks 9 and 10 are the last weeks for appointments. No appointments finals week when the tutors and TLC are on reduced schedules.

3. Save your documents from the "N" drive to disks or flash drives at the end of the term. Documents saved under your L# will be deleted during spring break.

4. There are still a few places in the Eliminating Self-Defeating Behavior class. Do you have a habit that you are tired of and would like to change? This two-credit class helps students make positive life changes and leave some of those self-defeating behaviors behind. The class meets on T/Th from 10:00 - 11:20, and starts the second week of the term, CRN 42304. Questions? Talk to Mary (parthemerm@lanecc.edu)

5. Congratulations to you who submitted the OSAC Scholarship Application! What a great achievement! The Lane Foundation Scholarship Applications are due next Monday, March 12th. Be sure to get yours in by the deadline! http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/foundation/scholarshipopps.htm

6. Interested in a Student Helper position next year? You may want to take the FREE one-credit class "Each One Teach One" to position yourself for working as an SSA, in EOAR, or as a Peer Mentor. See the attached flyer.

7. Spring Term Learning Communities: There are bright pink flyers on the TRiO Office desk listing all the spring term learning communities. Learning Communities are two or more linked classes that teach a subject at a deeper level. Students get to know the subject, other students, and the instructors better. Plan ahead to take a Learning Community next year if you can't fit one in this spring.

Take good care of yourselves and remember to do some work each day to prepare for the end of the term. You'll feel better and be glad you did!

Warm Wishes,
Mary

TRiO E-News February 20, 2007

Dear TRiO Students:

Wow, here we are on the downhill side of the term. Are you doing as well as you want to be doing? Do you know how you are doing in your classes? It is important that you know how you are doing and that you are taking steps to ensure you are doing as well as you want to be doing. Come to TRiO...we can help with that!

1. Mid-term progress reports (MTPRs): We have decided to try a different approach to MTPRs this term. It will be up to you to talk to each instructor, or use our MTPR forms (available on the TLC check-in desk or from Marla) to ask your instructors for feedback about your mid-term course performance. Why would you want to do this? Sometimes students' perceptions and instructors' about performance differ. It is important to know where you stand now, so that if change is needed, you have time to make a change that will improve your grade. We encourage you to consult with us if you learn you are close to not passing a class. We have strategies we want to share with you. Please talk to your instructors this week!

2. IMPORTANT!! Transferring or considering Dual Enrollment? It is EXTREMELY important to come to the Transfer Strategies Workshop on Friday, February 16, 2:30 - 4:00 in Building 1/Room 224. Whether you are planning to transfer next year or wondering what options exist as you follow your academic path, you won't want to miss this workshop! This is your chance to speak directly with folks from four-year universities and colleges about their programs, admissions and transfer tips. Former TRiO students who have already transferred successfully will also share their insights and experiences. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get personalized feedback. Sign up in the TLC or email Aliscia at nilesa@lanecc.edu.

3. UO TOUR: Interested in touring the University of Oregon campus? Come join us as we explore the UO campus and become familiar with programs, services and even meet their TRiO folks! The tour takes place on Monday, February 19 from 10:30-3:30 (LANE is closed but UO is open) LUNCH IS INCLUDED! Sign up in the TLC.

4. OSAC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE IN TWO WEEKS!!! USE the SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCES! OSAC applications are due March 1 and Lane Foundation applications are due March 12! Come to the Scholarship Study Group in the TLC on Wednesdays fro 2:00 - 3:00 to work on your essays and application packets. Career and Employment Services is also sponsoring workshops in the next few weeks to help with the application process.

5. Interested in enrolling in the Eliminating Self-Defeating Behavior class? It is filling up quickly with non-TRiO students, so if you want to take this class to learn to change a self-defeating habit into a self-enhancing pattern, sign up now! T/Th 10:00-11:20 (Week 2 through Week 8) CRN 42304.

6. New (& Free!) One-Credit Peer Mentor Training Course offered Spring term, TH 2:30-3:50, CG 199 CRN #42298. This class will provide leadership training for those interested in on-campus jobs helping other students next year. Questions? Call or e-mail Christina Salter at 463-5813, or salterc@lanecc.edu.

B. Click on Enrollment Services
C. Click on Registration
D. Scroll down to Check Your Registration Status
E. Click on the line that says:
Click here to see if you have been cleared by the Counseling Dept to participate in Advance Registration for Spring 07 term.

9. What is the Tutor's Role in the TLC?
Tutors are here to assist you in your learning, and can help in a variety of ways. However, your presence is always required. You may want them to write your paper, unlock the puzzle within a math problem, or fix your document on the computer. This is not their job. The tutors have been trained to help you learn to do all these things for yourself. It is our job to help you be the best possible learner you can be. It may feel frustrating if your question is answered with another question, but this will allow you the opportunity to discover the answer yourself. And do you know what? Most of the time, you really do have the answer - somewhere. Maybe it's in your book, your class notes, or your brain. The tutor's job is to help you locate that answer, not give it to you. This will help you know that you really are a good student. You really are smart. It is our job to help you discover that you can do it. We will support you in your independent learning. We believe in you!

10. Making the Most of Your Tutoring Sessions

The role of TRiO tutors is to make TRiO students self-sufficient learners. Being a self-sufficient learner is the best skill we can teach you. As a student, it may seem to you that we are not being helpful when we insist that you do the work or refer to your text, but we know that you are entirely on your own at two in the morning. Understanding the information below will help us all to understand our roles in the TLC.

Please don’t expect your tutor to:
~Write your paper
~Unlock the puzzle within a math problem
~Fix your documents on the computer
~Give you answers

The role of a TRiO tutor is to support you in your independent learning by helping you:
~Learn to do all the above tasks for your self
~Be the best possible learner you can be
~Locate the answer in your own knowledge
~Plan out your time and get organized
~Know that your are really a good student
~Discover that you can do it.

Your role as a TRiO student is to help your tutor help you, so:
~Prepare for your session with a tutor
~Come early for your appointment; start studying
~Identify which parts of the process you understand
~Identify where you need help
~Ask for more information
~Be open to tutor suggestions
~Go with the flow, there is a reason behind tutor questioning
~Don’t wait until the last minute to seek the assistance on essays/papers
~Write a first draft a week before it is due
~Plan time to improve drafts more than once (with the help of a tutor each time)

Now that you have the particulars to make you successful, be sure to come into the TLC, make appointments, join a study group, and use the drop-in tutoring available whenever we are open.

11. Tutor evaluations are needed, ten (10) per tutor. If you work with a tutor this term, please fill out one of the yellow evaluation forms on each table and put the forms in the specified folder above Marla's desk. Thanks.

Take good care and we hope to see you often in TRiO! Let us know how we can be helpful.

Warm Regards, Mary

TRiO E-News 1/29/07

Dear TRiO Students:   It's hard to believe it is the fourth week of the term already.  There is a great deal of news this week, so please take the time to read the E-News carefully and view the various attachments.

1.  GEARING UP TO GRADUATE:  Are you within 24 credits of completing your degree? Official degree evaluations are completed in the order they are received so if you are, now is a good time to apply for graduation! You must apply by April 30 to ensure publication in the graduation ceremony booklet, evaluation of results returned to you by the last date of spring term, and earliest processing for completing degrees for transcripts. How to apply? Forms are available online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/es/forms.html and at this time there is not an application fee. 2.  TRANSFERRING? Don't miss the Transfer Strategies Workshop!  Friday, February 16, 2:30-4:00, Bldg. #1, RM 222   Whether you are planning to transfer next year or wondering what options exist as you follow your academic path, you won't want to miss this workshop!   Many of you have come to talk with Aliscia about life after LANE and particularly about transferring to a 4-year college or university. This is your chance to speak directly with folks from four-year universities and colleges about their programs, admissions and transfer tips. Former TRiO students who have already transferred successfully will also share their insights and experiences. This will be an interactive workshop and you will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get personalized feedback.  Sign up in the TLC or email Aliscia at nilesa@lanecc.edu and she'll get you on the list!   A great follow up to this workshop is our UO Tour, taking place the following Monday, February 19. Sign up on the TLC or send an email!

4. UO Application Deadline and Information:  Deadlines are quickly approaching if you are planning to transfer to the UO in fall of 2007. You can get the application and additional information at: http://admissions.uoregon.edu/transfer.html
·   February 1: Transfer, continuing UO and graduate student deadline for the University Scholarship Application
·   March 1: Transfer student priority deadline for financial aid
·   March 15: Transfer student priority deadline for the UO application for admission See Aliscia or your program advisor/counselor if you need assistance with the application process!

5.   Transcript Degree Evaluation:  Enrollment Services will no longer evaluate transcripts from Oregon schools. If you have already submitted your transcripts from an Oregon college or are planning to do so, Enrollment Services is now directing you to a self-service tool called the Course Equivalency Transfer Tool   The Lane Community College Course Equivalency Transfer Tool (CETT) web-based advising system is intended to assist potential transfer students in reviewing course transferability, equivalency, and applicability to Lane Community College degrees, programs and certificates. The system should be utilized by students, in consultation with a college or university advisor as part of their educational decision-making process. The system provides the most current information available regarding course transferability.  Information obtained through this system should be considered unofficial.   Enrollment Services will continue to review out-of-state and international transcripts. If you submitted a non-Oregon transcript for review and have not heard back from a degree evaluator, please email: DegreeEvaluators@lanecc.edu with your L#, program and the approximate date that you had submitted the degree evaluation request.   Please see Aliscia or your program advisor/counselor if you would like assistance navigating through this new tool.

7.  SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCES! Come to the Scholarship Study Group in the TLC on Wednesdays fro 2:00 - 3:00 to work on your essays and application packets.  Career and Employment Services is sponsoring workshops in the next few weeks to help with the application process. Please see the attached schedule.

10.  TRANSITION TO THE UNIVERSITY CLASS:  3 Credits, Tues./Thurs. 1:30-2:50, Center 202, CRN 40610  This class is geared to help students prepare for a successful transfer to the UO. It is team-taught by Lane and UO instructors and is held half the time at Lane and half the time at the UO. Please see the attached flyer.

11. TLC Card Box: We've made it easier to find your card once we have filed it back in the box. Cards are filed behind the initials of your last names with pink (new student cards)  in front, blue (returning students from 2005/2006) in the middle, and yellow (enrolled this fall) last. Searching only in your color group is faster and easier. You won't have to look through so many cards, only your color: pink, blue, or yellow, and you can always personalize the top of your card to make it easy to find.  Please avoid taking out a whole section to find your card. Several times entire groups of cards were put back in the file under the wrong letter of the alphabet, making it difficult for others to find their cards. The new system should help you avoid this.  If you can't find your card, follow the instructions on the bright green sign in the back of the card box.

12.  SUPPORT TUTORING at Lane! Enroll in the courses posted on the yellow sheets for any tutoring help you have received in any lab winter term. These courses represent the tutoring help you have or will receive during the term. There is no cost to you or time involved. Enrolling ensures Lane gets funds from Uncle Sam for our tutoring programs. Please tell a tutor which courses you registered for so we can keep track. Thanks!   13.  STUDY GROUPS BEGIN THIS WEEK: The following groups have been arranged. If you want to join one of these groups but have not signed up, please just show up and let the tutor know. Study groups are maintained by a weekly attendance of at least three students. Please call Marla (463-3131) if there is any reason you cannot attend a session. ~Math 60 with Jenn meets 12:30 to 1:20 Wednesdays in Bldg 1/216 ~Math 65 with Bill meets 1:00 to 1:50 Fridays in Bldg 1/212 ~Math 95 with Bill meets 3:00 to 3:50 Tuesdays in Bldg 1/216 ~Math 241/242 with Amanda meets 12:00 to 12:50 Wednesdays in Bldg   14.  Please keep the TLC clean. Remember that eating in the TLC is allowed only at the white table. The college has allowed us to have food in our lab if we can keep it clean and the computers safe.  We do not want to lose that privilege, so please keep food at the food at the food table ONLY, and clean up after yourself.
Take good care of yourselves and come to TRiO often!

Warm Wishes, Mary

TRiO E-News 1/22/07

Dear TRiO Students:   What a beautiful sunny day!  This is the way I like to start the week.  Hopefully you now have a clear idea of the expectations in each of your classes, and know what you need to do to catch up after the snow days.  It's hard to believe we are already in Week 3.

1.  ADVANCE ADVISING and ADVANCE REGISTRATION:  If you did not do Advance Advising last spring or this past fall term, you will need to see Aliscia or your Advisor/Counselor to have and Advance Registration planner signed before you can Advance Register.  If you have done Advance Advising, you can Advance Register for Spring Term beginning on Wednesday, January 31, at 7:00 a.m. (NOTE the NEW TIME).

2. ELIMINATING SELF-DEFEATING BEHAVIOR:  Do you have a behavior that gets in your way that you'd really like to change?  Take this two-credit class with Mary Parthemer in Spring Term to learn a supportive and powerful process to change the self-defeating behavior to a self-enhancing one.  The class will meet for seven weeks on Tues/Thurs, 10:00 - 11:20, CRN 42304.

3. NOTE-TAKING WORKSHOP:  Don't miss this workshop that will help you learn effective note-taking methods.  When?  Thursday, 2/25/07, 3:00 - 4:30, 19/243.

4.  Math 95 and Math 241/242 study groups have people interested but no hours have come together et. If you have signed up, please try to add more options so we can find an hour when three students can meet with a tutor. If you are interested in these or any math or science study group, please sign up today. Don't forget, if you sign up and we form a study group, that is a commitment to attend. Non-attendance will cause us to cancel the study group. As the term progresses, your study group will be vital.

5.  Recycle all soda cans and glass or plastic drink bottles down the hall in the recycle bins by the Food Kiosk. Please don't leave your empties in the TLC, as we don't have maid service. Thanks for cleaning up any food messes on the table and in the microwave; the food area has been staying nice and clean.

6.  USE the TLC!  We're here to support your academic success.  It's a great place to study, write pers, get a quick question answered, or participate in 1/2 hour of uninterrupted tutoring.

7.  SCHOLARSHIP STUDY GROUP:  Every Wednesday, 2:00 - 3:00, in the TLC.  This is a time and place to focus on your scholarship applications.  OSAC is due 3/1/07 and Lane Foundation is due 3/12/07 so it is time to get going!   Take care and we hope to see you often in the TLC.   Warm Regards, Mary

TRiO E-News 1/16/07

Dear TRiO Students:   What a start to Winter term, huh?!  Remember that even when classes are canceled due to weather, the work will continue and not necessarily slow down, so stay up-to-date with class work.  If you have missed classes due to weather other than when the college was closed, be sure your instructors know you intend to stay in class and your absences were due to weather.

1.  Test Anxiety Workshop with John Steele this Friday, 1/19/2007, 2:00 - 3:30, in 1/224.  To sign up for this or any other TRiO Workshop or activity, stop by the TLC, e-mail Marla at nortonm@lanecc.edu or call 463-3131.

2.  Notetaking Workshop: Having trouble organizing your notes or just taking them? Wish you knew some shorthand for long phrases?.  Need some tips on how to make yourself a better listener in class? Nancy's notetaking workshop on Thursday, January 25th (next week), from 2:00 to 3:00, in Bldg 19, Room 243 is designed to get you up to scratch with a task that can make all the difference in your course work. Sign up by the TLC bulletin board.

5.  Be sure to pick up the OSAC and Lane Foundation Scholarship Application packets in the TLC or Counseling Department.

6.  Don't forget to register now to show you are using tutoring services winter term. Please ask a TRiO tutor to help you register for the cost-free, non-credit, and non-graded courses  today. These non-class courses support tutoring campus wide, and best of all, you use them each time you receive tutoring on campus. If you registered in another lab or in the TLC, tell a tutor which courses you had tutor help with, and we will track that for our records. Tutors will be checking with you while you are in the TLC. If we get you marked off the list, we won't keep pestering you. Thanks! TRiO students contributed significantly to this funding process fall term--and it didn't cost any student a penny!

7.  Study Groups are forming. A Math 60 study group has formed and will meet 12:30 to 1:20 on Wednesdays. Amanda will tutor. Marla will book a room. Math 95  is close to forming. If any of you can add more options for hours or another student sign up for a time slot already on the page, a study group would be possible. For all study groups, please be sure to put all available times down so we can find a time in which three students can meet together for a study group.

8.  All day tutor help is available by signing up on the white board to the rear of the TLC. You can sign up as many times as you need. Tutors will come to your assistance.

Using tutors in appointments has a proven track record. TRiO students excel and manage their course work r better. Why struggle? We've got the tutors for you!   Take care, stay warm and drive SAFELY!   Warm Wishes, Mary

1.  Attached is a list of the TRiO Winter Workshops and Activities.  There are a number of Transfer activities and other things scheduled.  Please come in and get signed up right away.

2.  Financial Aid:  It is very important to submit your FAFSA as soon as possible--REMEMBER...you do not need your W-2 to submit your FAFSA.  Make a best estimate of your earnings for 2006, submit the FAFSA now, and then send a confirmation of earnings after you get your W-2.  Be sure to submit your FAFSA on-line.  Oregon Student Assistance Commission's College Goal Oregon, hosted concurrently at 15 community colleges around the state, will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Building 1 lobby on Saturday, January 20. College Goal Oregon offers assistance in completing the FAFSA. Participants should bring personal income tax forms, bank statements, and/or pay stubs. For more information, contact Chris Hainley in Lane's financial aid office at 463-5350 or see www.CollegeGoalOregon.org

3.  Attached is a Winter schedule for Tutors in the TLC.  It may change in this next week, and if it does, we will send an updated schedule.  Make TRiO study a habit by scheduling time in the TLC beginning this week!

4.  It's Scholarship Application time!  There are Oregon Student Assistance Commission (OSAC) and Lane Foundation applications for you to pick up in the TLC (only one application of each per person, please).  The OSAC deadline is March 1 and the Lane Foundation application is March 12.  That may seem a long way off, but it is right around the corner.  Get started early!  We will be conducting weekly TRiO Scholarship Study Groups on Wednesdays from 2-3.  We hope you will take advantage of these times to work on your applications, ask questions and get some assistance.  You'll be able to come back the next week with your additions, improvements, and revisions to get more feedback and assistance.  If you are going to be at Lane next year, you should definitely submit a Lane Foundation application.  You have a very good chance of getting a Lane scholarship!

5.  There is a free, all-day College Financial Aid and Scholarship Workshop scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 8:30 - 3:30, in Building 17, Room 308. Register for this free, non-credit class through ExpressLane with CRN #32923.  Career and Employment Services is offering other hour-long workshops throughout the term for applying for the OSAC and Lane Foundation scholarships (see the attached schedule).

8.  TLC CARDS: Your winter term TLC card is in the box waiting for you. Please remember to fill in the date and time in as soon as you enter the TLC and do so for each time you use the TLC for any reason. Thanks!

9. Study Groups: Come in to get signed up for a Study Group this week. Please remember we need you to write in all your available times in order for us to find an hour when three students can meet together. Several of you have signed up for study groups without putting down any times. Please remedy that ASAP. For all study groups, sign up on the blue clipboard on the information table. Follow instructions at top of page.

10. Register NOW to show you are using tutoring services winter term. Please ask a TRiO tutor to help you register for the cost-free, non-credit, and non-graded courses  today. These non-class courses support tutoring campus wide, and best of all, you use them each time you are in a tutoring lab.

11. No Tutoring appointments until Week 2. For appointments, always use a pencil to put your first and last names in the yellow blocks.

12. WINTER TERM BUS PASS, PHOTOS and STICKERS: in Building 19, Room 117 on January 8 and 9 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Students need to bring their winter term ExpressLane schedule and a current photo identification to get the photo ID. Students can start riding the first week of winter term, but you need to have the Winter term sticker attached by January 20 to continue riding the bus.  More info is available at http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/instadv/lccbuspassinfo.htm
13. New Refrigerator Rule: Starting this term, you will need to label any item you put in the fridge. Write your first and last name on it with the Sharpie provided. Both TRiO students and TRiO Staff use the refrigerator daily . . . and it's SMALL . . . . We ask that you only refrigerate items from your lunch that require refrigeration, not your entire lunch bag, and remove all leftover food daily. Anything left over the weekend will be tossed, so keep track of your lunch items. There is no room to store a week's worth of food for any individual, and large items are discouraged. Please help make the fridge work for all of us. Thanks!   14. Computers: Wait until your computer has booted up completely before inserting your flash/pin/thumb drive.   Be sure to take the time this week to get your planners updated for Winter term.  Make a schedule that includes study and tutor times.  Plan in workshops you'd like to attend.  We look forward to seeing you REALLY soon in TRiO!  Take good care.

Warm Regards,
Mary
