Early Warning Interventions for At-Risk Students Conference--Wednesday, December 3-Friday, December 5
Location: San Diego, CA
There are many ways to categorize and approach at-risk students and assist them with their success in college. Generally, at-risk students are those who are not likely to graduate within six years. This can be due to many factors, such as not being academically prepared for college or not skilled to meet the academic demands of an institution. Statistically, students that come from an ethnic minority, have a lower socioeconomic status, are disabled or are conditionally accepted tend to be less likely to finish college. However, the weight of each of these variables that affect retention are institution-specific, so interventions must be institution-specific as well.  This conference will discuss the variety of ways in which academically at-risk students can be identified and then lay out strategies for how interventions might be structured. For more information contact 720-488-6800.
