Admissions

  • Can I still apply for credit admissions for fall term?
Yes, however, many credit classes are filled, if you need placement testing to register for any of the classes, you'll need to think about waiting to attend for winter term and if you haven't yet applied for financial aid, your award will not be offered until the end of winter term or early spring term.
  • What if I want to move my admissions from winter to spring term?
If you have already been admitted and have your "L" number, you are all set to attend any term in the future.
  • How do I apply for admissions?
Go to our website at lanecc.edu and click on the upper left hand column where it reads: Apply Now!

Placement Testing

  • Can I still sign up to take a Placement Test so I can register for fall term?
If you are a returning student, you contact the Testing Office to see if they still have testing spots for fall term.
If you are a new credit student for fall and have not yet done your placement testing, you'll need to think about moving your admission and attendance at Lane to winter term. Click on the "Steps for Enrolling in Credit Classes" link in the Student Announcements Box on Lane's homepage for more information.
  • Why do I need to do Placement Testing?
Students who are planning on earning a degree from Lane, and/or transferring to another institution, must take testing before being able to enroll.
Students who want to take credit classes for personal enrichment at Lane, may register without taking placement tests, however, many credit classes have prerequisites that must be cleared with test scores.
  • What will happen at the Winter SOAR programs?
You'll be able to attend a New Student Information Session and a Program Advising session and then will be able to register ahead of the other new students for winter term.
  • Do I do my Placement Testing at the Winter SOAR?
No, by following the Steps for Enrolling for Classes at Lane , you’ll see that you may now sign up for testing appointments which begin early January for Spring SOAR. You'll do this before attending the SOAR programs.

Registration

  • I'm trying to register for fall term, but it says I have a Placement Testing hold, how do I get around that?
If you are returning to Lane after already being a student here, contact Testing at (541)463-5324, or at TestingOffice@lanecc.edu .
If you are a new credit student, you'll need to go to the Steps for Enrolling in Credits Classes on our homepage and arrange to attend a Spring SOAR Program and attend Lane beginning spring term.
  • I'm trying to register for fall, but there aren't any classes left, what do I do?
Be sure to review the Open Sections List (which is split up into five sections depending when and where the classes are offered) from the Fall Classes link on the front page of Lane's website.
  • I've taken classes at Lane before, but haven’t registered yet. Can I do that still?
Yes, but be aware that many classes are full and that if you still need Placement Testing to meet prerequisites for a particular class that you'll need to arrange this with Testing, right away.
  • What is an Administrative Withdrawal?
Faculty have the right to notify their departments to drop you from a class for which you did not attend at least 50% of the first week of classes.
For winter term, classes begin on Monday, January 3rd, so they will be looking at class attendance between Monday, January 3rd through Friday, January 7th.
Attend all sessions of your first week of the term to avoid being dropped.
You may not be dropped for not attending, so you must drop any class you don't want to be charged for, by the refund
    deadline on Sunday, January 9th.

Financial Aid

  • I turned in my FAFSA and all of the documents listed in myLane to get fall financial aid and I still don't see my award in myLane. What’s up?
If you completed the FAFSA and submitted all required items by early August, you'll may have an aid award prior to the October 2nd refund deadline.
If you did not, you could expect your award anywhere from 2-8 weeks, which may mean at the end of fall term or even in winter term.
  • I have to attend Lane this fall to get financial aid; otherwise I can't cover my living expenses. Can someone make it so I can still do my Placement Testing and register?
If you have not already signed up to do your testing and register, you'll now need to wait to attend Lane in winter term.
If you haven't submitted your FAFSA to Lane, you must do this immediately.
  • What if I need financial aid for fall and I’ve already registered?
If you didn't submit the FAFSA and all of the documents listed in myLane prior to early August, you can still be awarded financial aid for fall term, if you are eligible, but it isn't likely that you’ll have your award until late fall term or even by winter term.
Do not hold onto any classes after the October 2nd refund deadline if you haven’t identified resources outside of financial aid to cover them.

Paying for Classes

  • How can I see what I owe?
For credit students, unless you request a paper statement to be mailed to you by clicking on the "Billing Statement Information" link under myMoney tab in myLane, you will need to review your Student Account in myLane .
  • When is my fall bill due?
Updated statements are produced in myLane on the 15th of each month. Depending on when you put a charge on your account, you'll see in myLane when your bill is due . Generally speaking they are due on the 15th of each month and any amount not paid by that date will be assessed a 2% finance charge.
  • What is the refund deadline for fall term classes?
For full term classes, the refund deadline is Sunday, October 2nd . You must drop any class in myLane by this date to avoid having to pay for charges after this date. Not receiving financial aid or not receiving it in time will not be considered a valid reason for receiving a refund.
